I had posted this on contemporary collecting forum but had no replies. MAybe someone here can help?
I located a longrifle yesterday that the makers name? I believe as it was on the top barrel flat?
Is partially obscured because someone moved the rear sight forward.
It is I believe a contemporary piece but could have some age on it.
The name read I think "J Tobin (then the rear sight and the numeral)3"
It is in a sort of Germanic looking script so it is a little hard to read. It may not be a letter J???
Found this at a gun show. Ot is a very well made piece. Too many inlays for my taste but a very nice and well made rifle just the same
Thanks
