Randy Weitzel double Bedford rifle.

My friend Randy recently completed this double Bedford.  The barrels are 38" Orion
barrels, 40 caliber.  They were hand rifled on his own personally made rifling bench.
He tells me they shoot 1" groups at 50 yds.  370 hours of labor in building the rifle.
The barrels were 3/4 across the flats and total weight of gun is 10.5 lbs.
Pictured is the rifling bench he made to bore the barrels.

Holy cow! Daddy like! I agree with Osprey,I LOVE Bedford's and this one is fantastic!

A double Bedford or Ohio is # 5 on my gun list when my shop is completed next month. Thank's for the inspiration!

Ok,that was a very quick answer after first looking at the pic's,and looking at them further,that is one very clean gun! I would love to see it in real life.

I'd like to ask a couple of questions.

#1,Are the triggers set up like a double barrel shotgun?

#2,custom left lock or a Chambers gun maker with a "built up" Hammer? (beautiful non the less!)

#3,are the barrels soldered together or are there pin's to align them?

#4,Cast off?

Pathfinder, Randy says.  
Triggers are like a double barrel shotgun because owner wanted that.
Both locks were hand made plates and hammers with Dixie internals.
Pinned barrels, 2 tenons like on originals.
No cast off but no awkward at all.

Gun resides in Bedford County with owner.  It will be judged at Dixons
Fair this year.

All I can say is ... That is one beeyuteeful double. I especially like that gorgeous hunk of wood. The carving and inlays are superbly done also.
That gun is too pretty to shoot! Send it to me and I will display it proudly . Tell your friend Randy that you have misplaced it.

That is some amazing work. Great lines, tight architecture, light in all the right places, nice tight wood to metal fit and great inlays and carving from the detail I can see in the pictures. If that one inch group at 50 yards is per barrel that is pretty @!*% good, if it is using both barrels that is down right amazing.

Truly a work of gun art. One of those in 45 caliber would truly be of interest if the builder was looking to do more of them.

If I wasn't already planning on going, this would be reason enough!  Although it would certainly shame me into keeping my 2x4's hidden at home.   ;)
