Gun Builders Class Saturday 2/16 @ Log Cabin Shop
« on: February 14, 2013, 05:08:58 PM »
Ian Pratt will be leading another Gun Builders class this Saturday at the Log Cabin Shop in Lodi Ohio.  Stop in and say hello.  We have several rifles and fowlers in various stages of completion being worked on.  Bring along what ever you are working on, we love to see peoples work and Ian can solve just about any building issue you might have.  We are having a mini swap meet as well, nothing organized just bring in stuff you no longer use or need.  We are there all day, come on in if you can.
See you on Saturday.

Does he make that for you when he is out there?  Never had his corn bread, it is usually hot dogs on the forge, just a slight hint of sulfur!

Hey Dennis - if they leave any for us I'll mail half of it to you

Bill, those guys out in Washington work pretty fast - they all had their gun hardware forged on the first day of class, so on the second day we had a big bituminous bake-off. The sulfur smoked cornbread was a hit, but I still think Dave's borax crusted blackened ravioli should have done better than third place. I guess the judges just weren't ready for that kind of an adventure.

Sounds good, nothing better than finding a forgotten 3 day old piece of corn bread, crumble it in a glass of milk and its as good as the day it was made ;)

Here are some pictures that Dave K took. Seems like we must have spent more time eating than working!

This is Ian and me BillP trying to work out a trade for some piece of junk.

Pete and Gary working away in the back corner.  Tim just walking around.

John G taking a break, he does that alot.  Tim just walking around.

Gary and Pete still smiling after eating my chili.

Ian was trying to figure out if the chili was any good or not.  Greg was thinking that he was going to get the bill.

John G explaining something to anyone that would listen.  Thats Dave on the left, Ian trying to look interested.

This is the best shot of Heinz we got all day.  The guy on the end, Tim, just shows up some times, he never builds anything.  Dave just wanted to get back to work.

So that's all the photos we took, Ian had a beautiful rifle there he had just finished up, we just didn't take any pictures of it!  Next get together is March 30th, you should try to come , we have a good time and Ian actually teaches us some interesting stuff every class.

Ian playing with black powder again?   Or did his wife need a scalp for one of her bags?

That is an excellent picture of me.  And it avoids comparison with the one in the post office.  The swap meet was fun.  I am warning everyone that Bill traded a pair of double long spring victor traps off of me after first seeing how they would fit in his tool box, hmmm.
These classes are really great events and well worth attending.  If you have never seen the Log Cabin's collection of US Military rifles, they are icing on the cake.
kind regards, heinz

Is very much OK.  Store opens at 8:30 we straggle in between 8:30 and 9:00.  We are there until 5:30 or so.  Nothing set in stone, come and go as you need.  We don't usually get serious about anything before 9:30, coffee, cookies and lots of things to look at and talk about.
