Trade gun round robin
« on: February 23, 2013, 03:07:32 AM »
Well, tomorrow is shoot 2 of S.E. Mi TGRR. And I got my lock back for my Bess from Yancey here on this site today. So far its sparking like a champ! He did a GREAT job "re -building " this TRS piece. New main spring, tumbler, sear, and frizzen work. Even fitted a spare spring for me.

I'll give a report tomorrow,even if I embarrass myself!

Again, if your in throw Rochester/Utica area, and have a "legal" trade gun and period outfit (clothes), come join us at The Detroit Sportsman's Congress for a GREAT time!

Tell LLloyd hello and rub his new gun for luck. I'm sure he'll be happy to tell you all about it. He's coming down Sunday. Want me to send that Frenchie gun along? Shoot it and if you don't want it, you can mail it back.

Well, the Bess went off flawlessly! Not 1 clatch! I did come in 2nd though,Danny Holcomb hit 1 more bird than I did,we both missed 1 target on the walk thru,THE SAME ONE!

To say I'm pleased with the work that Yancey did on my lock is an understatement. It's fast and now throw's a huge shower of spark's!

And yup Joe,that there Frenchy gun is a beaut! I think her and I will be getting along well! Thank's!

Shoot #3 is in the book's,right where it belong's! I sucked,but to be honest,IT WASN'T MY FAULT! REALLY,IT WASN'T!

The guy's in our group and I go back a long long way's,and to say we had fun is a HUGE understatement! So much so that I didn't load for one of the shot's! Not a "dry ball". No powder,no nothing! When the Bess didn't go off, flash in the pan,I picked the touch hole and felt NOTHING! No matter how slick you are,YOU CANT HIDE THE FACT,YOU DIDN'T LOAD!(FWI,That makes 34 shot's in a row the gun went off, flawlessly, since Yancey re-built the lock, compared to 8-10 hammer fall's to get 1 shot before!)

And somtimes that's better than winning! Come to think of it, I was a winner!

My Buddy Rick had a stuck ram rod in the thimbles. Once we got it out,he carried it in his sash. Well,on station 12,he managed to send his rod down range! Quite a feat! So. I managed to make him a new one. Worked for loading shot anyway, not sure about roundball though! :D

Pathfinder, if I was looking for the guy in your avatar, I guess I'd never find you! I looked thru your photobucket....I figure you are the one toting the "Pathfinder" powder horn, eh? Maybe we'll finally cross paths at Kalamazoo this weekend (Sat.) I'll try to keep an eye out!
