Bumford type "G" trade gun.

After Barbie posted Gary's death today,I just had to visit his "Flintriflesmith" site.

Loosing another master is quite a blow. especially since I like many others didn't get a chance to meet one of our "Hero's"

And on his site,I marveled again at the "Bumford" trade gun. Is there a pattern out there for this remarkable piece? I LOVE the wrist/comb area.

I would like to build a "tribute" gun. It would be for me,and I am just another nameless face in the crowd of "average"gun builders who love building,but lack the talent's of men such as Gary.

  You might contact Ben Coogle. He is one of the foremost experts on the type G, and offers parts and kits. I don't have any contact info anymore, but you should be able to find him on the net.

Check with Jack Brooks.  If I'm not mistaken, at one time he had a virtual kit for the type G.

Seems like there's another guy out there that makes these too.......it's on the tip of my tongue......Seems like he built his first G in 1988....... ;)
