This is my third shot pouch. I was inspired by a bag made by Jeff Bibb, and a few other ones I've seen here and there.  It has a hanging inside pocket and a decent sized welted gusset.  The iron buckles I got from 'scarlet scarab'.  I stained the leather with rust/vinegar and then dyed over it with fiebings medium brown. I love the color it took on. The horn was made by Mark Ewing and I think it fits the bag well. I'm looking forward to using it.

Good Job! Only thing,and it's just me,I think the horn is just a bit long for the bag. Really a nice horn with nice workmanship and details,just my taste.

I actually hadn't considered that, thanks I'll keep that in mind next time.
I'm not sure I can make a bag nice enough for that horn yet.

Also wanted to mention that T.C. Albert's book is indespensible for a beginner, a real asset.

Like it a good deal.  You have a real talent.  Bet you are already planning your next one... :)

One question, after staining the bag... Did you dress the leather ?

thanks. I'm planning the next three now hahaha.
After staining it, the only thing I did was work some olive oil into the leather. I'm still experimenting with everything.  I want to try a heart shaped one next and really age the $#@* out of it somehow.

Go easy on the aging. Easy off "kill's" the leather. You can reapply oils and fat liqueurs,but once leather is damaged,it's damaged. Use is the best IMHO,but that's just me.

I would also double stitch the top edge of the front piece. I love the dye process and the color"aging" of bag's.

I have an idea of what I want,but the leather,just as my wood finishing,the leather "tell's" me what it wants to do. Ya just have to "listen"!

This was going to be a light mahogany,it's not! I like the way it turned out. Heck,I like ALL my bag's! I hate when they get sold........Kinda!
