Below is what I have on James Poyas. As I intend w/in a year or so to do a book on SC guns I would love to have photos of this one. Dr R H Mackintosh Sr had a virtual monopoly on SC guns. He died w/o publishing his study & I assume his several sons own the guns now, but I hear of no progress toward publishing.

The Subscriber, having served a regular apprenticeship with Mr. John Schirer, gunsmith, in Charleston, take the liberty of informing his town and country friends, and the public in general, that he has established himself at No. 209 Meeting-street, nearly opposite to Wm. H. Gibbs, Esq., and 3 doors south of Queen-street—and carries on the above business in all its various branches, where Stocks, Locks, and other Gun Smith’s work will be executed in the neatest manner, and with all possible dispatch; and hopes that by unremitting attention and punctuality in his business, to deserve a share of the public patronage.
