Family legend has it that Jacob Shaffer sighted his guns in buy shooting at a rock, the rock is all that is left of the homeplace. I inspected the rock and due to me not being able to load pictures you will have to email me for pics, I took pictures and in some areas it looks like shot has hit the rock as it as some pretty round indentions in it. What is the likely hood of this?

I recall reading something on the aolrc.org website about an Ohio gunsmith who also used a rock
as his target.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Here is the dumb question: Would it be stupid to try and purchase the rock from the landowner?

If it means something to you, doesn't cost much, and doesnt' require heavy machinery to move it, then go for it. Remember when "pet" rocks were popular?
