Howdy,
I know (or think) that I read a post here on a group of tools that was used to drill out the little shaped hole to put in a shield shaped emblem in a knife handle.
I believe the guy who posted said the drill and template tools were old and from his family.

I searched a lot and came up with nothing.

Does someone know of this posting?

Thanks!

Rick,

I remember the post you are talking about, and I am pretty sure I have it saved somewhere, but so far I haven't been able to find it. It may have been on the old board - I am not sur that those archives are still available. I think it was Chuck Burrows that posted the pictures, though I am not sure. You might try to contact him directly.

Roy Underhill did a show on those...theres a bit more to making one than to making a standard bow drill....but the Sheffield makers did use them to cut inlay work for their knives...as did the steel square makers etc...I believe they are called Passer drills...
heres one on utube:
