LMF Question
« on: May 17, 2013, 10:07:00 PM »
I just stained my stock with a mixture of LMF Maple and Walnut.  If, after the stain is dried, is it possible to cut back on the density of the stain by rubbing the stock with a rag moistened with alcohol?

Thanks in advance,

Decker

I don't know about the rag soaked with alcohol, but I know you can lighten it up with steel wool.

Either alcohol or acetone will cut it back.
Alcohol stays wet longer so is probably easier to work with.

I tried that with alcohol and steel wool. Seemed to knock out a lot of the figure in the wood though. It is an excellent method for finding all the little cut and nicks in your hands.
