Banded applied tip horn

[I got this idea from Rase. He did a similar horn and I really liked it. Since I had the necessary pieces sitting there, I decided to do one myself.
The horn itself is a fairly translucent horn. You could certainly see the powder level if you held it to the light. The black tip was fitted to the horn and will be pinned with 1/16 wire pins. The bands were some that I had already made that fit where I felt they looked good. The Maple plug was made to blend in with the two bands at the butt. The horn and butt were colored with aquafortis. The bands were dyed with Rit because they weren't all the same color.
The bands are not pinned but instead are pressed tightly in place and then "glued" into place with the coat of shellac that sealed the plug and horn. I have noticed that a lot of the originals didn't have the bands pinned on. We'll see if this works or not.
I still have to make the tip plug and a lanyard. I'm not certain what strap I'll use. I got 4 different ones at the Horn Fair. Maybe I'll use one of these.

 Nice job Steve, all the turnings are well done, sharp. As for pressing on the rings and keeping them in place, I have seen old horns with rings missing and in some cases there seems to be some sort of residue in the light space where the ring was. I wonder if they didn’t use hide glue on the bands in some cases. My thinking; the glue is put on hot, the horns pours open from the heat as do the rings, the glue sinks in, dries and the rings are locked in place.

This is still a work in progress Tim. The tip on this horn has been steadily shrinking. I'm still not sure what the final outcome will be for it.
I can always pin the bands and I might do just that before it gets away from me. I'll update the pictures when I feel it's done.

OK. So I worked on it today and this is what it came out as. I'm not sure I'm super happy with the tip but I believe It's better than what I had before. Like I said before, this tip just keeps shrinking.
