had a guy give me some Goex powder
says Cowboy powder on the can
can i use it in my flintlock?
never heard of Cowboy powder before
looks a lot like 3fff

Some time back, I tried some out in a rat rifle (.45 cal). As expected, velocities were in line with what I'd expect out of FFFg.

Most of this battle powder ect is powder that is out of spec for there normal powder, probably granule size or its not dense or uniform enough. So they package it for people who have no need for much accuracy/consistency.

I have nine cans of the stuff. I started to use it in my .45 cal. rifle and loaded it with the same charge as 3F. It shot the same.
