Early Honaker rifles

Looking for some inspiration for another project. Intrigued about a pair of rifles in "Gunsmiths of West Virginia", (Lambert and Whisker, pgs. 72-73) described only as early Honaker rifles. Any one know any history on this family of smiths and perhaps dates for these "early" rifles. There is also a remnant of an iron mounted Honaker in the CLA journal vol. 3 no.1 page 42.

I believe that we have seen some questions regarding Honaker rifles on the forum in the past and AVLRC (member here) has stated that his wife is related to the Honakers and that there is a Honaker family book, which gives the history of the Honakers.  Maybe AVLRC can post something here to help you out.

The first attribution, at the least, is very much a speculative *attribution.*  I would not go so far as to say it is definitively a Honaker rifle.

I'm happy to see someone else is looking for this particular family, as I too am looking for examples of early Virginia rifles in smoothbore, but with a metal patchbox. This is right up my alley.

They are a few pictures of their rifles in the "Honaker Family in America" but to small to really be of great help.

If you are interested in studying the Honaker's, this  is the easiest  &  most time saving way.

Here is a link to the Contemporary Makers Blog and a posting of the iron mounted interpretation of the Brass Barrel Rifle attributed to Jacob Honaker that I did.  It has a few more angles than you normally see on this very distinctive rifle.
