Satin, no casting marks, but occasionally a few small file marks, burnished with a little steel wool or wet stones - but that's just my personal preference - I don't like to see my reflection in a patchbox or triggerguard. The smoothest brass parts I've seen on American originals still have some fine file marks in them, and look polished due to the amount of handling and continued polishing over the years (the idea of leaving patina on original brass is fairly recent, and old guns were frequently polished bright before our current way of thinking came about). Now - if we're talking about European guns then that's a whole different ballgame.
