Silver Nazareth Pistol

Since I almost never work from pre carves this was a bit of a change for me.It was made from one of York County Firelock's Nazareth pistol parts sets.It was a fun little project and will be on Chris Altland's table at Dixons if anyone wants to check it out.As always all comments and questions are welcome.

Hey Mitch,
   What, did you build this in the last week since you posted your Berks rifle  :)... Very nice looking pistol, what's the length on that barrel?  My only critique would be to have raised the side plate up every so slightly at the rear.  Though as I hold the same sideplate in my hand it has a definite downward slope and potentially high rear lock bolt placement, so putting it on a precarved stock is tricky business.  I know Chris has a small, medium, and large size buttcap - do you know which size was used on this one (I can ask Chris too at the show)?  Thanks for sharing, see you in a week!

I wish I was that quick,took me longer than that to get the finish to dry.  ;D ;D ;D The lock bolt may be a little low(I've done that before :) ) but it might be the angle of the photo.Check it out at Dixons and let me know what you think.Pre carves do limit you somewhat but I think it could be raised some.The barrel is a 10" .50 cal Getz.You'll have to ask Chris which cap it is as I'm not sure.

Yea I like Chris's stuff too.I'm working on his Georgian Pistol it's pretty cool also.It will be in the white on Chris's table also if you want to check it out.

I don't wish to steal your thunder on this post.  Couldn't anyway.  You are a much superior craftsman than I. Just thought I'd show my Chris Altland Nazareth with an ordnance bronze octagon to round cannon muzzle barrel.  I little different interpretation of same pistol.  Hope you are OK with me posting pictures.  If not, I will take them down immediately.  Hoping that showing both drums up some orders for Chris.

Beautiful job !!!  The silver goes perfectly with that shade of stain and the wood figure is accented perfectly.
