Gun and knife maker Robert Bishop

Hi, this is my first post to this forum.  I'm looking for any info on Robert Bishop made guns and knives.   He was in Petersburg , Il from 1840s to 1880s I believe.  My Dad is retiring from farming this year and he has always wanted something from Bishop---we live in Petersburg.   Any info on Bisho

Curt Johnson has 3 pages on him in "Gunmakers of Illinois". Volume I.

I talked to Curt this week.   Looking for tips on how to find a Bishop rifle-- any tips much appreciated!

You might try, going to some of the Mid-Western Antique Gun Shows. The aolrc is having a show in Newark Ohio Sept. 28. Go there and hand out a card with your name and contact to every person behind a table. I would not be surprised if you  got a lead. Do a google search everyday, it is funny how things just pop up. Put a wanted add here on ALR.

You are welcome.  Did you go to the Prairie State Longrifle Show in August? They have another one February 21 & 22. Someone there should know the whereabouts of a rifle made by that fellow.
