I was reading on the Revolutionarywararchives site and there is a comment about Gilbert Forbes. In other searches I see "Court Martial for the trial of Thomas Hickey and others" "The Committee then quickly identified Forbes as Gilbert Forbes, a well-known gunsmith who owned "The Sign of the Sportsman" shop on Broadway."
Are there any know specimens of his work around?
Part of my interest is pure history. I have linage back to the rebellion. And I am kind of looking for patterns of Rev. era rifles.
