Need some ideas...

I will have an Ed Rayl barrel soon with the following dimensions.

 - 44" length
 - 1 1/4" breech
 - 15/16" waist
 - 1 1/8" muzzle
 - .60 caliber
 
What should I make with it?  Must be a flintlock and pre-1800.  Thoughts?

With that heavy of breech I would look at a Dickert Lancaster style that commonly used 2inch + wide buttplates that would kind of balance it out.

What about a John Schreit, the earliest dated longrifle, dated 1761.

This is one of my favorites. Always wanted to make one.

im with Cody, i think you could make a very nice long barreled jeager out of it, i am learning more and more that short barrels were i now way the rule for jeagers, plus if you are interested in that sorta thing it is very enlightening to do research for a continental gun a little bit different than our American guns

Some might not agree, but that's exactly what I was going to suggest.  Early, like Lew and Andy suggested, kinda stocky but graceful due to the long barrel, and a step wrist.  Plus, a Christian Springs rifle can incorporate a lot of the architecture associated with some Jeagers.  What ya think??

Pick one of the early rifles like the Schreit. There are a number of good candidates in RCA. I think 83/84?? In the front of RCA II would be a candidate as well.
I would shorten it to 42 from the muzzle but thats just me. Look at the muzzle of the Schreit and maybe the Marshal rifle IIRC. They were fairly small at the muzzle.

I like the idea of a long jaeger or a Christian Springs-type rifle, but another idea would be a musket-styled rifle similar to RCA 141.

I love that musket-styled rifle.  If you send me an email I'll send you pix of a heavy early lehigh/Christians Springs rifle Shumway showed in Muzzle Blasts back in the 80's.  The original was a smoothie but it's quite a gun with terrific architecture, quite plain.

Take a look at Eric Kettenburg's 1750 rifle on his website. I could see attempting something like that with a big barrel like you have.

Wow...that's a big barrel.  Actually, most of those early guns don't have barrels that big, although you could use for that.
It's going to be a rather heavy gun...probably 9# to 10# when finished.....Don

While looking through my RCA Volume II I found #90 attributed to Shroyer.  It is a very early York County.  I am thinking that that might be a real possibility.

Also, is the below photo representative of the Haga "style"?
