Wonder if it could be Bartley Coleman? From Ohio. Shoemaker Tavern, York Township 1850 Census.

1853,1859 Gunsmith McConnelsville (directories)

There is a B Coalman in the 1860 McConnelsville , Morgan County Ohio Census, listed as a gunsmith. No doubt the same guy. Oh yeah, 34 years old.

I sent you an email with census records. In the 1850 & 1860 Census he is listed as a Gunsmith. In the 1870 ,1880 & the 1900 Census he is listed as a machinist. Sometimes he used Coalman and other times he used Coleman, this could be due to how the census taker spelled it. Used both Bartley, Bartholomew . He  was a soldier in the Civil War, Company C ,Ohio 97th Infantry.

I'm certain you are looking for Bartley Coleman. I have seen several rifles attributed to him with various spelling of the last name.
