These kind of threads crack me up. It seems that for every shooter there is a solution that works best (for him). That tells me that they all work to a point. But depending on the activity of the shooter his mileage may vary. Theoretically if you shot every day and cleaned the rifle daily it would wear out before it rusted out. Even with your favorite rust preventive of choice for long term storage, (longer than a month or 3) you should be checking the bore periodically.

I started using ballistol a few years ago and I have no complaints so far. I only use it the most during hunting season after cleaning between hunts . For long term storage I use Rig. There used to be a product that I used for years with no problem even when stored for long periods. The name of the product was Rusty Duck Protective Gun lube. Wally World quit selling it and I couldnt get it no more.
