New Year's Day Trail Walk
« on: January 02, 2014, 02:24:03 AM »
Only 5 of us showed up this year for our annual trail walk on NYD.  Temperature just at freezing, snowing hard some of the time, but very pleasant, and great company.  We have needed snow shoes since the end of November here...about three feet on the ground, but easy going.  Here's a shot of a young fellow just starting out, and two geezers that are long in the tooth.  It was a wonderful day.

Two of those guys look like they went to grade school with Santa Claus
but there may still be hope for the third one.

Looks like fun but you guys can keep all that white stuff up there ;D
Nothing beats the feel of a handmade southern iron mounted flintlock on a cold frosty morning

Looks like it was still a good time. As the saying goes, a bad day in the woods is still a better day than at work! ;D

Snow?  I don't know anything different, and I know I'd miss it if we didn't get any.  Although it is hard to tell in the pic, it was snowing heavily at the time of the picture.  It teaches you to keep your fizzen closed on the pan, and to hold the rifle close when you prime.  We had no issues with miss-fires today.  That Chambers' late Ketalnd throws sparks like a cutting torch.  I checked for fires on the way out of the trail.

Love It!! You gents look great!
Brings back memories of my other life in the North East. But after nearly 21 years in the Atlanta, GA area, I can honestly say "I DON'T miss it!"

PAlonggun...I'm pretty sure it's heavy cotton - not linen.
