Jim Webb's got worms!
« on: October 08, 2009, 11:39:28 PM »
About a year ago I ordered Jim Webb's two books, and when they arrived, there was in the parcel a flyer advertising the worms, wormers, and jags he makes.  On Sept 22 I ordered two of them...one for each of my .40 and .50 cal rifles.   They arrived this morning, and I have to say I'm delighted.  I've included a photo of the one on the ramrod of my Kuntz rifle, and the other on the rod of my Chambers Virginia.  The rod for the .40 is tapered 3/8 down to 5/16" and the worm fits it perfectly.  The Virginia's rod is tapered 7/16 down to 3/8" and it too fits just right.  He made them so I could use tow or cloth patches.  Having no tow, I took three 1" square flannelette patches and pushed 'em in.  Slick.  I had Jim make them to a prescribed length so they'd fit perfectly in their respective patchboxes.  In a handwritten two page letter that came with the worms, Jim mentioned that he suffers from arthritis, and doesn't know for how much longer he can use his hands.  I would recommend that you get your orders in now.

Taylor, Jim did a terrific job!  It's great to see great craftsmanship and customer service.  Thanks for sharing the pics and I'll be using his services in the future.

Taylor......when I first saw the title to this posting "Jim Webb's got worms", I thought gee whiz, I really feel sorry for this
guy and I don't really even  know him.    I  know my cat get them when he gets out of the house and eats some mice,
but, for a human, you hardly ever hear of this anymore.   Boy, was I relieved when I saw that squiggly thing on the end
of his ramrod.   I know what you all are thinking, you now know why I build barn guns........Don

Does anyone have a new phone number for Jim Webb.  The one listed in this thread has been disconnected.

Those are very nice!  Can we also see the rest of your Kuntz rifle?   I have a feeling it's
very nice too.  Also, your pictures are so good.  What kind of camera are you using?

Shreckmeister...thanks very much!  The camera is an old digital Kodak 'Easy Share 27590'.  It has 5 Megs and 10X zoom and is easy to use.  It's heavy for its size and a little bulky, but I agree, it takes good pictures.

I'll try to find a link for you, for the Kuntz rifle (she's one of my favourites!!)

Shreckmeister...go to the "Search" tool at the top of this page, and click on it.  Now type in "Jacob Kuntz" in the subect header, and in the user name header, type "D. Taylor Sapergia"  You'll get a long list of posts regarding Mr. Kuntz, and in many of them, I have posted images of my rifle.
