1777 Charleville Pistol Replica
« on: January 29, 2017, 01:52:51 PM »
Stumbled across one of these in a junk shop yesterday. The jaw screw was broken in the lower jaw and the upper part was missing. I believe I can have a friend turn a new jaw screw and I can hopefully locate a replacement upper jaw or fabricate one. I drilled the screw out but I am unable to purchase enough bite to remove the remains. Any suggestions on removing the remaining threads? I was thinking of just retapping the threads and fabricating my replacement screw with corresponding threads.

This was made in Italy by Armi San Marco, no longer in business.

I have worked on several of these, by several makers. I suspect they were all made from the same tooling. None of them were reliable, and the geometry of the lock in some made them almost unusable.
