Orion barrel...

Hi,
I am about to buy a 45 cal ML with a barrel which has been made by a company by the name of "ORION".
This ML is a great long range shooter, up to 1,000 yards !! She has won many international long range ML tournaments
She eats conical of 500 grains with 90 grains of Goef FFg. And she has a twist of 1:18 .
I am looking for informations on the "Orion Cie". This company does not seem to still be alive.
I would be very pleased if somebody could post some informations on this barrel.
Great forum ! Thank you

Jerry Cunningham of Orion Rifle Barrel Co. (RR2 137 Cobler Village Road, Kalispell, Montana, USA 59901) used to offer barrels in a variety of lengths and calibers with fast twist rifling .006-.008 deep.
I have no idea if they are still in business. Good luck.

Jerry sold the business...............believe that thegunworks.com bought them, according to another forum.
I really enjoyed the "talks" that I had with Jerry..........a nice ole fellow that liked to chat about hunting and guns.

Don't know if they are still in business, but I'm pretty sure that they made Sharps reproductions, which are still sought after, for their quality and accuracy. Good luck!!

I have used quite a few of Jerry's barrels and they were always great shooters and easy loaders. I still have about 5 left (all tapered) for that "special" project. Sorry to see him go.

Years ago, I bought quite few ML barrels from Jerry Cunningham and even bought his little booklet on the "Destructive testing of Gunbarrels". After you bought five you would get a 20% discount, even on the barrels that he put on sale every month (at Montana Rifle Barrel Co.). It made it where I could afford a couple every now and then. I believe that most of the barrels that I bought were made from 12L14 steel. I believe the same steel is utilized by a number of contemporary ML barrel makers.

Getz, Rice, Bill Large, Green River, Montana, and Orion all use or used 12L14 . The proof is in the pudding.
