This is the final video covering the patchbox on my Track of the Wolf Bucks County flintlock rifle kit. In this video I’ll make and install the actual lid release button. I’ll be making the button out of a big, old wood screw. In fact, this was a butt plate screw from a British SMLE rifle.

That's a very slick way to make a release button and rod for the patch box release.  It should reduce or eliminate binding of the rod when it's installed at an angle.

This is the first push button release I've made, so I can't compare it to other designs for smoothness or binding. All I can say is that this one is as smooth operating as anything I can imagine. And it was pretty easy to make.

A spherical raduis isn't re'q'd in the flathead screw head...mine are always flat , Kasinited and work well. Solves a problem of not having a lathe to make a shouldered push pin.  Not HC but sure is simple and easy to make and install....Fred
