Chambers L-20 Lock
« on: June 21, 2014, 05:23:10 AM »
While looking for Jaeger locks I noticed that Jim Chambers' online order form lists a "L-20" Jaeger lock in addition to the L-5 Early Germanic Lock.  The website seems to have no mention of this lock.  Is this the lock in an earlier thread back in 2010 about a potential round-faced Jaeger lock?

The L-20 Jaeger lock is one we hope to have in production this summer.  We have all the parts on hand (finally) and will be assembling some of them to fill all the orders we already have just as soon as we get caught up on all the other locks we have on order.  This lock will take easily twice the time to properly assemble, and the charge will be higher than our other locks (yet to be determined).  I apologize for taking so long  to get this lock in production, it's been a long journey, and there are not enough hours in a day to get everything done.

Thanks Jim.  Looking forward to seeing it.  I have a Jaeger project in the queue and looking for a quality lock for it.

Hey Jim, could you bring a prototype of the L-20 Jaeger lock along to Dixon's?

Just out of curiosity, why does it take longer to assemble?

Yes, I will bring one along to Dixon's next month.
It takes far more time to assemble one of these because all the holes are blind holes.  It takes four hand operations for each hole unlike a thru hole that is drilled and tapped in just a few seconds.....a real pita.
