Morovian smoothbore rifle wood

The last rifle in the Morovian rifle book is a smooth bore rifle. To me it looks like it is stocked in straight grain cherry. What do others think?

If you are talking of the smooth bore fowling gun, then I believe it is maple.  I've seen the gun in person and am looking through some closeup photos of the stock I have.  Though the stock doesn't have a hint of figure, the color and grain patterns make me think maple.

That's plain old maple.  Had it right here a few times - very, very neat piece.

I really like that piece and was thinking of building something really similar. Thanks for the input. A plain maple stock will be cheaper than cherry.

I should also add - especially since that piece is sans-signature - that I could easily see that coming out of Allentown just as easily as Bethlehem or CS, so not necessarily Moravian.
