This Chauncey Brockway , circa 1850-1860 from Elk County Pa., is for sale on a local online gun trading site. It is a heavy barrel .36 cal. apparently in good condition. They are asking $650. What do y'all think?

I would think any rifle that is shootable and cosmetically sound (as this one appears) is worth 650 bucks.
You couldn't build one for that.

Yup...worth the money. The T/C tang sight has to go though.

I'd take outa loan if I had to. That said if it local, inspection is recommended.

Interesting. "Applied" striping on that stock? Is the claim that it's an original?

There is no mention of the stripes. Funny thing is this rifle is mentioned in a post from March 2013 on this site. Search for Brockway to see it. I don't really need a percussion .36. Just sounded like a good buy.
