I had the pleasure of viewing what I would consider to be the best display ever assembled at the CLA show this past weekend. It was a display of a "Southern Travelers" complete set of personal items that may have accompanied him on his journeys. It's the brain child of Ian and Marl Ellen Pratt and Paul Gosnell. I know Ian spent countless hours building a fantastic example of a correct rifle and many other items in the display that all add to a very believable portrayal. Ian and Paul solicited many very talented CLA artists to do what they do best to present a picture of items both of a necessary and personal level that I've never been assembled before in a most convincing manner. Absolutely fantastic display. Congratulations to all involved.

I can't wait to see a full photoshoot of it.  Ian and Maryellen are truly amazing artists. A friend of mine described them as "brilliant", I'd have to agree.

It was a very impressive display, indeed.  I hope someone took some better photos than I did.

It was one of the highlights of the show.  My first time attending, what a fantastic collection of original and copies pieces and a wealth of knowledge on one place.

The Southern Traveler exhibit was very well presented for inspection of items and details.

Was it based on an original ?
how common was the use of alligator hide ?

Thanks to Art and Jan for this post today. It really shows all the pieces of this display for those of us who are not fortunate enough to be able to see this display in person. I talked yesterday to a friend who was there and he couldn't say enough good about it. Kudos to Ian, Maryellen,Paul Gosnell, and all who contributed to this great display.

It really was an amazing and impressive display.  Beautifully artistic work by everyone involved. Certainly one of the highlights of the show for me as well.
