new member checking aboard
« on: August 28, 2014, 12:56:31 AM »
I'm contemplating my1st flinter after owning many caplocks including an underhammer .54cal. My large weapons include serving an 1857 bronze Napoleon cannon which eats 1.5-2.0 pounds of holy black. LOL

Welcome Sir!!! I was in the US Navy myself. What kind of rifle (school or county characteristics) are you looking for?

Thanks VaRifleman and Crawdad. I'm leaning towards a fowler/smooth rifle for the hunting versatility they offer.

Nothing is hard if you have the right equipment and know how to use it.  OR have friends who have both.

Ah yes!!! I remember it well. Sent more than one duckling to his demise. The forum is great and I'm learning a lot not to mention some of the eye candy. For myself I'd have an ugly horse but it would take me out of trouble quickly.

Welcome. I have rarely shot anything but flint since I built my first one. It's kind of an incurable disease.

Welcome navygunner. Be careful flintlocks are addictive.  ;D

I shot my first flintlock in 1975 and been shooting them ever since.

Welcome Brother!

You do know that if the the Good Lord had meant for his children to shoot those percussion things He would have scattered little copper caps all over the face of the earth instead of rocks! ;)

Welcome.

What can be more fun that a cannon. WOW. But at $15 - $30 a shot you will love shooting a Flintlock. It's almost the most fun you can have with your cloths on.

Flintlocks have much more character than caps. Buy the best you can afford.
