anyone ever heard of gun builder Jacob Siler?
« on: September 25, 2014, 03:37:13 AM »
was reading up on Daniel Boone and David Crockett when I saw an article that mentioned a gun maker by the name of Jacob Siler, who apparently built a rifle for Mr. Boone, but also took a 12 year old David Crockett as an indenture  as payment for a debt owed him by Crockett's father.

anyone familiar with this fellow and know what his rifles looked like?

also, I think I posted in the right forum and apologize if I didn't

Thanks

Jerry Noble lists Jacob Siler as an early North Carolina gunsmith, undocumented.  This is from Vol. I of Jerry's "Southern Longrifles" set.
