lock won't set when cocked

this is almost a new lock, built rifle last spring large chambers flint
when it is fully cocked it seems the fly wont lock up the flint falls very light
lock is out of the rifle
any ideas or do I send it back to jim??

 Might try tightening up the 2 screws on the back a bit so that it engages everything. They might have worked loose just enough so that it won't set.

Maybe the bridle is binding on the tumbler and fly.

To me, it sounds like the fly is too long, causing a lot of friction against the sear when the hammer tries to fall. If this is correct, and you are not comfortable figuring out the fix, I'd recommend contacting the dealer/manufacturer.

I think if you really want helpful suggestions from this group, you are going to have to explain  your issue more clearly.  The first thing that comes to my mind, is what kind of triggers do you have, and is the problem the same in and out of the stock?  Also, what, exactly, is the problem?  Have you dissembled the lock?  What kind of lubricant are you using?  I often initially have issues with wood interfering with lock operation, or double set trigger fitment posing as lock problems.

Sounds like something's bent or rusty. Disasenbly is probably in order. Make sure you use a mainspring vise.BJH

I seem to remember Jim saying that the vast majority of locks returned for service needed only to be properly lubricated. You might start there.
When your car stalls by the side of the road, don't tear the engine apart, check the gas gauge first. ;)

disassembled lock, put it back together, works fine now
