Muzzleloader Builders Supply TexArk flints
« on: November 27, 2014, 01:45:53 AM »
Muzzleloader Builders Supply has flints made of Texas chert by special needs young adults.  I got 10 of the 7/8" size to try, killed my mule deer buck with one in my Late English lock in my .58.  Two were a bit thick but the others were surprisingly thin and flat.   They are $1 each compared to $2 for the 7/8" English size.  I like them and will use more.

I did had done put them in my "cart" last night.  Haven't "checked out" yet.

Thanks for the report.

Keep your powder dry, and stock up on flints every chance you get by golly.

I had some of their earliest attempts at knapping and didn't get very good sparks and they weren't very uniform, but a buddy of mine is using some of their latest ones and is getting good results.  It is for a good cause and it is teaching these kids a skill, which is great.  I just haven't tried them again since I got the first ones.
