Chunk Gun Build

Any thoughts a build ..Barrel size,  Lock,  Triggers, Stock fit ?

Want to Keep the weight down to be able to shoot table matches and chunk matches.

13 to 14 pound range.

I have an 1&1/8-42" lomg-40 cal. cherry half stock-no rib-no cheek piece-Davis # 6 triggers- a few other weight saving trim jobs- 13&3/4 lbs.-Chambers late Ketland flint lock.

You do know that guns for table shoots have a maximum allowable weight of 13 lbs.?  :-\

Kermit makes a good point about the weight at table shoots, actualy I think some shoots limit it at 12#. Might want to go to a larger caliber if you were to use the dimentions of my first post.

This is useful too. NMLRA is giving Table Shooting a boost by adding the game at Friendship. You might like the rest of the forum too.

Guys, please read the rules again (see excerpt below) and please keep your discussions to guns that use side-locks. There are other sites for discussions on other types of ML's.

Dennis is right about this site. If you read about the soon-to-be NMLRA addition of Table Shooting, there is a subdivision that is a hunter class, limited to lower weight and sidelocks only. Those are appropriate here, I believe. I've given some thought to how to participate in Table Shooting, and have decided, for the time being at least, to not chase the limits of the rules, and to try sticking to my flintlock .50 x 48" DeHass barreled rifle with its traditional sights. I'm coming to like the idea of the added challenge.
