What a gorgeous rifle!  I'm not usually a huge fan of plains rifles, but I'd be thrilled to carry a rifle like this.  Great color and patina, especially the contrast between the silver and dark steel.  Thanks for sharing.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Very nice. I've always had a soft spot for Hawken rifles.

She's pretty as a peach in full blush. If she shoots as well as she looks nothing will touch her. Love that finish and the inlay work is superior.

Go ahead Santa, put that under my tree you rascal.

Beautiful job Louie. Hawkens are a tuff build, you either nail it or you don't, I'd say you nailed it.

I still don't understand the subtleties of this type of gun that makes this a perfect example, so I'll just say it is a beautiful rifle in its own right, One of those guns that makes one want to shoulder it!!!! Everything is so nicely done, awesome deer on the box lid!!!!!!

WOW! That's beautiful work .  It's a good thing you weren't around one hundred  and fifty years ago. They would be called Parker rifles instead of Hawken rifles.

Thanks for your  interest in my Christmas project.  The gift was opened last evening and he was very pleased and near speechless.   So its no longer in my possession and actually I sort of miss it. But I have permission to bring it to the Princeton Illinois show and show it a bit,, Louie
