Tricked Out My Triggers
« on: December 30, 2014, 04:16:15 AM »

Found these triggers at a good price at an antique store the other day so I bought all three sets he had. On one set I re forged and reshaped the triggers and replaced the brass adjusting screw with a steel one. Re hardened and re tempered and honed contact points.

Sounds like a good deal, good that you were able to make them better.

Remarkable improvement.  Another example of how stock stuff can be really nicely improved.

Did you do anything to the seer ect to make them break more like glass and more consistent?

I modified the front trigger spring. It was too heavy, so I thinned it down and reshaped it some. I rounded over the spring contact points on the plate also. I did do a little shaping and honing on the break points and stoned them after I re tempered them. Honed the mainspring nose and it's contact area on the rear trigger. They work pretty good. I haven't built the gun they are going in yet. Still putting together the parts. Working on forging a trigger guard today.
