chunk gun lubes

I am looking for a good lube to try in my chunk gun ? If any one has a good lube and would like to share.

I don't know if I should share my formula.  You might go to the York shoot, and end up with Prime Rib, and I'll end up with hamburger.   Oh Heck, I use a formula of 70 % beeswax to 30 % castor oil, with a couple of drops of Murphy's Oil soap. Heat it up to blend it, and use.   More wax if you want thicker, and more oil if you want thinner.  It's what I put in the grease holes of my Southern Mtn, rifles.  I go to the York for the fun of it and the camaraderie and the sharing.  I'm a burger kind of guy anyway.  This year I'm checking my Odometer so I can win that $1.00 pocket watch for greatest distance to get there.

30% bees wax and 70% crisco lard, unsalted of course. heat in a double boiler and adjust the mixture as needed. Tim

Spit - LHV - Shenandoah Valley Lube - Hodgdon's BP Cleaner and Preservative - those are the au-natural and store bought that work - probably.

Beeswax/olive Oil:  Beeswax/Neetsfoot oil:  Beeswax/Murphy's/Castor oil: 
-35 degree Windshield Washer Antifreeze and Neetsfoot oil
-35 degree Windshield Washer Antifreeze and Murphy's oil soap
-35 degree Windshield Washer Antifreeze and Olive Oil

.40 to .45 degree Windshield Washer Antifreeze may also be used.  Also- can be mixed with about anything you want. Some guys merely mix it with just about any kind of soap.

I don't know how the bug antifreezes would work - might be too many chemicals.

Just some suggestions.

daryl what proportions do the guys use when they use the windshield/ oil mixtures?
I was thinking of trying that when the shooting ranges open up around here next month.

 It's not really anti-freeze per sai, it's just winter windshield  washer fluid. Don't want to confuse anyone with the nomenclature! I think real winter anti-freeze might bugga up the bore.
  I made a concoction  that works good for range and trailwalks.
  One heaping table spoon of tire bead soap( tire shops contribution,it's veg based)
 two squirts of Rug Doctor carpet cleaner(as a wetting agent)
 three ounces of DAWN dish soap,the green kind
I ounce of alchohol
16 ounces of Winter Windshield Washer fluid
 It's real slippery and worked great at -10c which in Fahrenheit is about 24.
 Cleanup was a breeze, I used tap water.
When I tried it the relative humidity was 70%, sloppy wet patches ,of course.

Yeah - Nomenclature is everything  - I did say "Windshield Washer" though.    I wouldn't even try Polyethylene Glycol  :or an alcohol engine antifreeze , either - too many chemicals- come to think of it, LB's 'stuff' seems to have LOTS  ???of various 'stuff' in it.

A simple, ahem - Winshield Washer FLUID and oil should work. As to evaporation, I'm going to try about 30% neetsfoot oil in my first batch - already mixed. I knew I kept all those LHV bottles for something - they are handy for concoctions for testing - labels over labels.

I use a 50/50 mix of Tef and Lon . Works good in hot or cold weather!
