"Stuff of another trend" Chunk Gun

Just reading the trend on the cap lock build.
So I will start another trend '

What kind of stock would you prefer for a chunk gun?
Drop at heal ?

I am looking at a Late Virginia  w 2 3/4 drop with a 1" .50 -42" Rice barrel .   Should come in at just under 13# so I can use it for table matches until I get something heaver built.

Thoughts??

I used red maple.   It is commonly available down south and is more stable than sugar maple which lets you get away with using a cheaper, slab, cut of wood.   Most people make completely utilitarian chunk guns and therefore use a piece of plain wood.   I would still want the grain curving through the wrist.   I have seen walnut, but I think maple is the clearly superior stock wood.  The dimensions of the blank would basically be the same as any other large gun.

Do you think "US" portly old  men would benefit from less drop at the heal in prone shooting ? ;)

This P.O.M. would benefit from a crane after (attempting) prone shooting . . .
