Horn just finished
« on: January 16, 2009, 04:30:31 AM »
Here's a horn I just finished for a customer done in the style of a york county screwtip.  I did use a couple of pieces that are non traditional such as African blackwood (same stuff used on scottish bagpipes) as the screwtip and a piece of Lignum Vitae for the threaded portion with the customers consent.  I've been wanting to use lignum vitae to see how it would hold up vs. horn or other materials.  Hopefully I've captured the essential elements of a York county.
That reminds me, anyone know where I can find a wood threading kit in 5/8 inch?

Nice lookin' horn! For a 5/8" wood threading kit you may try the following link, but be advised they are proud of their product.  http://www.bealltool.com/products/threading/threader.php     :o
