There was an early request for information on Haines on this forum. This is from my Lancaster Co Gunsmiths book.
Isaac Haines (1750-1831). gunsmith. Isaac Haines was listed as a gunsmith in Lampeter Township, Lancaster County in the following, available tax records: 1773, 1776, 1777, 1779, 1780, 1781, 1783, 1785, 1786, 1787, 1788, 1789, 1790, 1792, 1793, 1796, 1797. In the federal direct tax of 1798, Haines was taxed on a house 29 by 39 feet, a stone barn and 2 out buildings. In 1795 and 1801 Haines sold land in Lampeter Township. [Deed Books WW, p. 270 and K-3, 373]. The Haines tax listings in Lampeter Township continued 1802-16, but 1823-43 are missing. On 18 April 1820 he sold land in Lampeter Township [Deed Book X-IV, p.282]. Haines' will was probated on 1 March 1831 [Will Book Q, p.17; Orphan's Court Misc. Doc. p.126].
Haines had two gunsmith's apprentices during the Revolution: "Ordered, that the Chairman [of the Lancaster Committee of Safety] write to Captain Harris, informing him that it is the sentiments of the Committee that Jonas Keeler, an apprentice of Isaac Haines, be kept at the Gunsmith's Business with his master, and be not obliged to do duty as a soldier. Ordered, that Peter Dillen, an apprentice to Isaac Haines, Gunsmith, now an Associator, and doing duty in Captain Hoofnagle's Company, go home with his said master and continue at that work with him" [5 Amer Arch 1 at 760]. Isaac Haines of Lampeter Township, was called a "yeoman" in the estate inventory which was taken on 1 March 1831,
