Thanks for the nice comments about the gun. Eric and I were talking about the recent thread on painted guns, and decided to join our talents on one. The "canvas" for Eric's paint job is a bare bones Lehigh Valley shimmel, 42" swamped 50 cal bbl. and a L. Siler lock. The piece of wood had a defect right at the cheek piece, so it was right for this type gun. Eric who is very modest about his talents, did a great job of "Dutchie" painting. The gun's finish was then antiqued and it is ready to go hunting, hang on the wall or both. I will also have the copy of the very early wooden box Bucks Co. gun w/ the 48" 60 cal. barrel on the table. Lexington from this board has already purchased it, but allowed me to hold the gun until the show.
I look forward to seeing many of your there. There will be a big hole without Don being in attendance--physically. I know his spirit will be there and will be felt with each "Don story."
See you at Lewisburg.... Ron
