fowler blueprints?
« on: March 07, 2009, 03:02:10 AM »
Does anyone sell fowler plans or blueprints? I did not see any on Track of the Wolf's web site. I have a grade 4 blank (red maple) and a 38" tapered and flared 16 ga. barrel so far. I was considering a trade gun, I do have a blueprint for that, allso have a completed kit gun I did about 10 years ago, from nsw. I am thinking a trade gun with that piece of wood and barrel might just look wrong? With this barrel this is going to be a light gun and want the stock shaped correct. I am allso considering this, I built a lancaster 50 cal. 42" rice 7/8" straight oct. barrel, (a bit muzzle heavy) this gun seems to fit very good, don't notice the recoil, would it be wrong to copy this stock design, and use the 38" 16 ga. barrel? I must have problems, just finished a gillespie 36 cal., hope to shoot it this weekend, and allready making plans for another gun. chuck-ia

Chuck-la,
I may be mistaken but if it were a trade gun from across the sea...... probably shouldn't be using a nice piece of maple (unfortunatly I have built some guns in the past using maple because that is what clients wanted against my persuasion)
Outside of TOTW's few plans ( & read them with a grain of salt) there are very few I know of.
Are you looking for English or French trade guns?  If you ar somewhat skilled in translaition of images to "3-d" work I recommend getting T.M.Hamilton's "Colonial Frontier Guns"  start staring at the images & translate them to your wood & metal
Best help I can give you ( worked for me)
