I had a bunch of that stuff and it still had paper glued to the back side. Good and soft though and not too thick so I cut it with a large hunting knife so as to role it and put it into a large cast iron fry pan to burn off the oil and paper.

A bunch of my lead still had the paper on it also, I found that if I soaked it in some water for an hour or 2 and then scrubbed it with a wire brush it took the paper off, still left the glue backing on but I just skimmed it off the lead as dross.

I too had some soft sheet lead with paper on one side. Luckily I took it out to the garage to burn off and melt, what a stink!
