I just bought this beautiful rifle. It was made for a gentleman in Mississippi in 1970.
I believe it is a golden age design. The question I have is caliber?
The diameter of the lands mic to .375. Can anyone tell me is this going to be a 38 or a 40 as I was told?
There is no caliber marked on the barrel.
Thank you for your help.

Doc,
If your measurement is correct, it's a .38 caliber in my book.

Definetly a 38 if it's .375. made by Bill Large. I have wished 1000 times that I should have had him make me one with a 1:16 twist for a bullet Schuetzen.

Doc welcome to the ALR forum. If you're open to it some pictures of the rifle would be great. The posting process is fairly simply and involves uploading the photographs to a hosting site such as PhotoBucket or Imgur and then inserting the URL for each photo into your ALR post. I use Imgur because I find it less troublesome and there are no Ad's to deal with.

Doc,
I also stumbled onto a W.M. Large flintlock a few months back (posted about it on this forum). Ironically, I was hoping mine was a .36 or .38, but it's a .40 caliber.
Welcome to the ALR forum.
