Could also try a drill Kreg pocket jigs use they are a #8 pilot and a 3/8 counter bore and there available at Home Depot and lowes would use a drill press tho there not the strongest

It made sense to me when I typed it. I was just trying to offer another option for those who don't have access to a machine shop.

It took me a minute to figure it out too, but I went out and tried a Kreg bit on some brass and it worked fine.  For those of you that haven't used them, they are part of a pretty cool system of installing screws into wood at a very low angle. They work great on cabinet doors.
