Roller/L&R lock
« on: August 10, 2015, 01:04:43 PM »
This weekend I acquired a lock with Roller stamped on the inside. It also has L&R stamped on the inside. Just wondering what the deal is with this.

No deal at all,it's a lock I made up using L&R external parts and then made a bench crafted mechanism fot it.
There are a number of them around and I have more to do.I use their Ashmore, small Manton and Durs Egg.
Which one do you have??

It's the Ashmore. It's a really nice lock. Looking forward to making something with it..

Like Curt said, you are lucky to have acquired a Roller lock.   They are quite sought after, and they really shouldn't be confused with an L&R lock.  Bob's internals are the best.    Bob makes all new internal components and hand fits them to an L&R plate, frizzen, and cock.

Not a common item for sure. Also many thanks to Mark Elliot and others for the nice comments about the mechanisms I have developed for these locks and also thanks to Bill Cox and Tim Thompson for letting me
use their components for these ideas. So far NO reported problems with them.
