White Horns
« on: September 16, 2015, 07:51:41 PM »
It's becoming increasingly difficult to obtain truly white horns which I need to do the kind of work that I most enjoy doing. Seeing a fellow horner's latest effort got me to thinking that perhaps there are some of you who are more interested in horn work than you are in engraving and who might have white horns they would be interested in trading or selling to me. If you are among that number, please send me a PM or contact me through my website and let me know. If the supply keeps dwindling, I may have to quit doing powderhorns all together.

Mark, can you post a picture of what a 'white horn' is? I am not familiar with these things but will be traveling to a ranch up north this winter with an old grain shed that contains a stack of bison and cow horns. Was going to grab a couple bison ones to play with and can take a look for 'white' ones if I know what to look for.  If the horn has been left on the bone for a long time does that impact it's usefulness?
