Mule ear rifle?

I have a mule ear lock and a one inch .45 caliber barrel that I am planning on building into a target rifle. This would be a rather late percussion rifle and I like to build my rifles to be somewhat appropriate with the time frame no exact copy as a matter of fact I don't think that I have ever seen a original mule ear? The butt plate will be more flat than what would probably be common and this is for my own physical build shoulders and arms are too thick for the skinny and deep crest of most of the late percussion rifles the real question is what kind of trigger guard would be appropriate?

Thanks a lot KY-Flinter I appreciate the information. A couple of those rifles were really nice a lot nicer than I expected to see I particularly liked the half stock for some more ideas.

Ron- first off thanks. I found it quite interesting to see the filed 'crown' of the muzzle of the first rifle listed in your post. Also - the stacked charges as to give 2 shots from one barrel.  Of course, safety concerns disallow this superposed charge "practice" today.
