Joe seabolt on the blog

Joe Seabolt has a knife on the blog today. I really like the original  knife and think he did an outstanding job capturing the look.  Anxious to handle his copy...Louie

It is a great copy. The inverted handle for holding the edge up in fighting is an interesting touch. With Joe Seabolt's usual shaving edge you would need to be careful handling it. It does feel good in the hand for such a large knife.

  Joe is one of the best in period knives. Another is Billy Heck, but I don't see much of his work lately.

Time period is post 1840. The Bowie "side knife" was very popular with States Rights troops during the war of northern agression. Big fighting knives filled a need on the trans Mississippi frontier before reliable revolvers made an appearance.
