Bedford County pouch
« on: September 09, 2015, 05:15:53 AM »
Fringed hair on pouch in the Bedford Cty style.  I may be nuts but I thought this
was beautiful.

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Neat. I bet it was a real beauty once upon a time. Any more pictures?
Also what makes it a "Bedford County style" pouch? Are there others from Bedford County PA that follow the same general shape and pattern?
thanks for sharing

I was told this pattern was found on other bags from the Bedford area.  There is a repair on the back which covers the area where the
straps were attached.  There are some holes at the bottom of the center of the bag where something was sewn to the bag.  I will try to
post a photo.

I picked it up from Mac Spencer at a recent show.  Thought it was eye candy.

If you decide you've lost that warm fuzzy feeling for it I'd take it off your hands. I've seen that before just can't remember where.

I'll let you know if that happens.  Right now, I'm still studying it.

For those interested in recreating such a bag, this photo shows the double welt and double fringe.

In my opinion,
Most of these "possibles" bags look very similar to Scottish Sporrans.  I used one of my homemade Sporrans for a while as a shooting bag.

Wish I could, the brown ones got sold during our move in September of 2015.
Closest I have pix of is one of mine on Pinterest.  It has a side piece that is soft and allows the front of the bag to move forward as it fills.  Backside is a quite firm piece of leather to hold its shape.  All handmade except the snap.
